TreeVerse program helps digitize region’s tree demography and suggest appropriate plantation to civic bodies based on nativity and tree growth models.
Our five- year program designs an AI-automated tree demography model which helps civic bodies to imbibe appropriate plantation- preservation policies. It also provides a technology platform to carry out ecological studies on urban plantations.
Vision
The Pune Municipal Corporation’s tree census project was conducted during 2016-18 costing about 15 Cr+. We aim to develop and test various AI-based analysis methodologies for high resolution satellite enabled comparatively accurate tree mapping which would be time and cost effective.
Description
The project focuses on identifying plantation space, plantation planning & implementation. It studies the models explaining tree growth, tree recruitment, mortality. The tasks involved are mapping of the saplings, measuring growth in existing trees and accordingly modeling Carbon sequestration capacity of the species.
