SAKSHAM: Series of Workshops for Health Workers

A series of workshops to empower and enhance the existing knowledge of Vector-Borne diseases in Health workers of Pune Municipal Region (PMR).

To enable and train the Health Workers in preventing and controlling the spread of Vector-Borne Diseases more effectively in the Pune District.

Description

PKC in collaboration with the District Malaria Office, Pune, is organizing the SAKSHAM series of workshops to empower the field workers who are responsible for the surveillance of vector-borne diseases with special emphasis on dengue and chikungunya. These workshops are being held at the taluka level to reach the Health Workers of all the 13 talukas of Pune district and 12 talukas of Kolhapur district. Till date a total number of 950 multipurpose workers have been trained under the SAKSHAM series.

The workshops comprise of the following topics:

  • Knowledge of the disease background
  • Disease detection
  • Diseases surveillance
  • Vector Bionomics, vector lifecycle, feeding and egg laying patterns
  • Vector surveillance
  • Importance of disease data for analysis and for understanding disease spread and prediction.
  • Overview of current surveillance activities and format of data reporting to the government authorities.
