Vision
To determine Dengue antibodies’ persistence in rural Pune areas through a community-based cohort study.
Description
PKC, in collaboration with KEMHRC, Vadu and IRSHA labs are testing retrospective samples for Seroprevalence of dengue virus in the rural population. Dengue virus is categorized into four serotypes (DEN-1, DEN-2, DEN-3, and DEN-4). The PRNT can determine which specific serotypes an individual has developed immunity against. This information is crucial for understanding the Epidemiology of Dengue in a particular region.
The KEMHRC-Vadu site is in rural parts of the Pune district. The parent study involved a cohort of 5000 individuals aged 2-60 years followed for 12 months with serial sero-testing for the presence of IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 infection at four monthly intervals.
Objectives
- To determine the persistence of Dengue antibodies [Neutralization assays (PRNT)] in the study population.
Partners
- KEM Hospital and Research Centre, Vadu Rural Health Program
- IRSHA (Interactive Research School for Health Affairs)
